Instead of using their voices for to run lines for a new movie or show, actresses Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner used them in support of a new Paparazzi bill this week.
The two famous women urged California lawmakers to support legislation that they say would help them better protect their children from the paparazzi that follow them on a regular basis. Both ladies testified before the Assembly Judiciary Committee regarding SB606, which would impose tighter and tougher restrictions as well as penalties on photographers who harass, belittle, degrade celebrities and their children.
A pregnant Berry told lawmakers that she finds the constant following, photo-snapping and presence of aggressive photographers not only a nuisance but a detriment to her and her young daughter when she attempts to take her to school.
Garner, star of “Alias,” nearly cried to lawmakers as she shared how the paparazzi aggressively follow her and her three young children to visits to the doctor or other important appointments. The two women further told lawmakers that they understand the sacrifices they have to make as celebrities, but their children should not have to be victimized because of their “star power” and presence.
No word was released on courses of action lawmakers will take on the proposed bill.
